John has been a member of the RSA since 2009 and was elected Chair of the Edinburgh Branch in 2011. He has been re-elected to this role every year since then.

John returned 'home' to Edinburgh a year before his 'early' retirement in 2010. He had worked in the H&I area at various locations as an ATCO, ATCO/Manager, and later Operational Safety Manager with HIAL for over 20 years.

Along with a few other former HIAL colleagues, John retained his membership with CAAPS, when HIAL set up its own Pension Scheme.

John's other 'retirement job' is being a member of the owners association committee where he lives.
