Vince joined National Air Traffic Control Services on 3rd October 1966 and was posted to Liverpool Airport as an ATCA.
When NATS lost the Contract at Liverpool in 1982, he was posted to Edinburgh Airport as an ATCA2 and remained at Edinburgh until his retirement in 2010.

At this point he joined the Edinburgh branch of the RSA and eventually became a Branch Committee member, which he remains today.
While working at Edinburgh Airport he became the CSMA, eventually PCS Union Representative.
He was voted onto the Executive Committee of the Union Aviation Group in about 1996, and served on it, eventually as Group Treasurer, until his retirement.
